Founded in 2020, by Tyler Hill - Nifty Renos is an innovative and versatile construction service provider. Tyler’s passion began early with a hammer, nails and scrap wood, building tree forts in the forest. Experience in a variety of trades, tech and hospitality have forged a holistic, scaleable, detail-oriented approach to crafting built environments.

Nifty Renos is not just a hired tool belt. Our approach is to imagine Client requirements through the greenest field possible. Emphasis is placed on the Client’s desired end state over what currently exists or is conventionally delivered.

Vast knowledge of materials, fixtures, appliances, and home systems enhance value Clients harvest from project investments. Job sites are always overseen by Tyler and host likeminded associates, interested in producing quality results.

Friends and family joke that Nifty’s slogan should be “nifty, not swiftly or thrifty”. Alas, within the trifecta of time/cost/quality - Client’s need not worry about quality when enlisting Nifty Renos to complete projects. Luckily, cost and expediency are a main focus of business improvement.

Speaking of luck, Nifty Renos is deeply embedded with appreciation for the abilities and opportunity bestowed by the universe, the planet, and society. The debt to each is recognized and we plan to begin repayment by developing solutions to help address the housing crisis in the GTA and beyond. Stay tuned for advancements on that front.

Methodology

  • Discovery

    Advise us on the experience with your home to date, and the improvement plans you envision. We aim to listen actively and learn about yourself and household, allowing the best possible assistance through the following steps.

    We are also delighted to visit your home in person, examine the current state of things, have a closer look at what plans are reasonably possible or not. Do some scouting online for design concepts or innovative solutions. This is also a perfect time for Client’s to get familiar with us! Check our website, ask for references, etc.

  • Conceptualization

    We aren’t hasty here, and suggest you shouldn’t be either. Send us your Pinterest page, pontificate about possible future uses, draw it out, sleep on it. Let’s consider materials, take measurements, lay tape on your floor. Time spent on this step has a very direct correlation with value delivered from the projects result.

    With the concept nailed down, we’ll provide a detailed quote to reflect the estimated scope of work required. Generally this first quote is just a starting point, and we’ll iterate as many times as necessary to define a plan you are pleased with.

  • Home Preparation

    We like it empty! Less stuff in the work area = less time spent moving and protecting it = exponentially more time/energy spent crafting the home of your dreams.

    In addition to the work area, it helps greatly to have adjacent staging areas for tools and materials, and things you need regular access to. Often this involves planning and effort to organize the garage and storage areas. We are experts at advising on this strategy, selecting organizational materials and installing sturdy and accessible storage solutions.

  • Site Preparation

    Dending on the state of your home finishes before we begin work (such as an existing new floor) we like to clean first! This allows us to roll out and tape contractors paper with confidence that no potentially damaging debris will be on your floor, and that the tape will stay sticking. This pre cleaning extends to wiping greasy areas such as doors & door frames, or kitchen walls to allow for plastic to be draped and taped over your cabinetry and food prep areas.

    Other techniques include installing zippered plastic doorways to isolate the work area within your home, and negative pressure fan into a window, ensuring dust is swiftly vacated.

  • Execution

    We strive for effiency. This means ample work area preparation, protection of adjacent areas to reduce post project cleaning, and batching of tasks. Safety and quality are priorities 1 and 2, speed and cost follow them, in such order. Enlist Nifty Renos with confidence we are covered by general liability insurance, WSIB. Furthermore thot we operate within scope of expertise and enlist others for work that is beyond. Essentially, using common sense.

We don’t stop there - at any point in this journey we notice something awry elsewhere in the house, we’ll inform you.

  • Delivery

    With your projects material efforts completed, we provide a full cleaning service so your space is completely ready to inhabit. We’ll assist with the bulk effort to move your furniture and things back into the space, leaving the finer placement of small items to you

    Then it’s time for a party! Or time to relax and revel in the zen of your completed space.

    We aren’t shy to chat after the invoice has been paid, feedback is paramount for us. Furthermore, should you discover a fault or error within ~2 years, we’ll make it right asap. Just beyond 2 years? We’ll fix that too - it’s rare these faults happen so we have no problem committing to a lasting level of quality.
